Axentis Michael Charitable Trust Supporting Age-2-Age Cycling Scheme

The Axentis Michael Charitable Trust is proud to support Age-2-Age, a great charitable scheme that helps arrange and promote inclusive cycling, through the funding of a trailer to facilitate bike transport.

Founded in 1997, Age-2-Age is North Somerset’s first disabled cycling charity. It engages in numerous charitable activities, including running clubs for children in socially-deprived areas, training adults for employment, organising youth projects, providing overseas aid, and providing social activities for people with additional needs.

Lin Thomas, founder of Age-2-Age, says: “The trailer funded by Axentis Michael Charitable Trust is already proving invaluable to our work through the Age-2-Age charity and our In-2-biking project providing inclusive cycling for children older than 8 and adults alike. It enables us to take some of our bikes (both two-wheel and adapted) to different locations for our riders, giving them access to a much wider range of experiences.”

Graham Thomas, one of their volunteers and himself a wheelchair user, says: ‘The trailer enabled me to take part in a Triathlon on 22nd May at Eton Dorney lake. We were able to transport our large wheelchair loader along with an inflatable canoe, something that would be extremely difficult without having the trailer available to us.”

Lin Thomas also notes: “The ramp and awning are an added bonus, as they provide easy access for our bikes and allow us to attend events to promote our work. With our Community Interest Company In-2-Gear running alongside us at Clarence Park East Cricket Pavilion, we can borrow a couple of their adapted bikes which currently go unused during the week, expanding our range of bikes available for community hire.”
